The Bahá’í approach works, not simply because Bahá’ís are nice people with forward-looking principles, but because we recognize Bahá’u’lláh as the Bearer of God’s Word for this Day. That recognition (this pamphlet explains) is the magnet which draws the confirmations of the Holy Spirit.
It also explores the spiritual dynamics of prejudice – why it is such an intractable disease. It reviews the history of black-white relations in America, showing how this history is still poisoning the well and blocking progress. It shows how Bahá’í education uses scientific data, viewed through a “spiritual lens”, to clear away the smoke.
But the soul of this pamphlet is the glimpse it gives into Bahá’í community life: It explores Feast as a laboratory for racial healing; shows how Bahá’í elections and administrative practices, by their very nature, empower minorities; and explains how the Faith, by encouraging racial intermarriage, breaks down walls of prejudice. It closes with a powerful quote from the Bahá’í Writings, showing, once again, how all these factors revolve around Bahá’u’lláh’s revelation-claim.
